Hygiene & Health Lesson Plan for Toddlers
I used figure 5.4 from page 72 for my second lesson plan. My lesson is on Hygiene & Health for toddlers though with some minor adjustments to the difficulty in activities could make it appropriate for older children as well. This lesson is not time specific like the Earth Day Lesson plan. It can really be done any time of the year when appropriate. I chose Hygiene & Health because it is a basic but important lesson that should be taught at all ages but especially so in the early ages to create that foundation for the future as they grow. You can never stress enough to take care of your hygiene & body because even as adults we forget to take care of ourselves so setting the example at an early age is important & children often need that reminder & the knowledge to explain why it needs to be done.
I personally found this lesson plan format to be annoying & difficult. At first glance it seems extremely simple & the formatting fairly organized. However as a teacher when using it is extremely frustrating because the main lessons are on the bottom & then you have to work your way up to the supporting activities. It just feels backwards when being written & I had to keep going back & forth. The supporting activities are on the top & the main lessons are on the bottom so even when parents read it I think they'd be confused at what is happening in the class. I would not recommend this format. It could be easily fixed if we switched the formatting with Monday-Friday on top & the supporting activities on the bottom. It is a simple fix & yet just that format alone had a major affect on the time it took to create the lesson. As teachers we are extremely short on time but want to create the best lessons possible so disorganization becomes a stressor & it's important to make everything as convenient for them as possible.
